Tika Kohlschein, Ceri Maxwell and Megan Rex celebrate their Exeter Award
Students first ever reward with award
Today saw the first ever presentation of the ‘Exeter Award’ to a group of students from across the University. Launched at the beginning of this academic year, the Exeter Award was designed to encourage all students to think about and enhance the skill set they will need in their lives after University.
To receive the award, students had to complete a variety of activities designed to enable them to provide evidence to future employers of their achievements outside their studies. These included CV sessions, advice on how to apply for jobs, mock interviews, volunteering in the community and learning a foreign language.
Commenting on the scheme Dr Dawn Lees, Employability Officer, said ‘In these tough economic times, students need to work even harder to impress prospective employers. The University takes its responsibilities in this area very seriously and has a comprehensive programme designed to help students, the Exeter Award is just one element.’
More than 3,200 students registered for the Award ensuring extremely high levels of participation with more than 160 students completing all the required elements.
