Transition to Colleges complete
As of the August 1 2010, the academic structure of the University changed from Schools to Colleges.
Since Council approved the changes last year, colleagues from across the University including both academic and professional services staff have been working tirelessly to ensure the transition is as seamless as possible.
Our six Colleges comprise: Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences; Humanities; Life and Environmental Sciences; Social Sciences and International Studies; the Peninsula College of Medicine & Dentistry (in partnership with University of Plymouth); and the University of Exeter Business School. The Business School is not changing to a ‘College’.
David Allen, Registrar and Deputy Chief Executive commented "The transition to Colleges is a very important development for the University strategically. The new academic structure will ensure all our disciplines can flourish, whilst enabling them to feed into a rich interdisciplinary research and teaching environment. It will also make the student experience at Exeter even better by significantly increasing the number of academic staff over the next three years. This will strengthen the teaching and research experience and, by pooling resources and activities, will significantly enhance the opportunities available to students."
