Graduation at the Tremough Campus, Penryn
Congratulations to Cornwall Campus graduates
The hard work of hundreds of students from the University of Exeter’s Tremough Campus, Penryn, is recognised today as they receive their degrees at a graduation ceremony at Truro Cathedral.
More than 400 people have graduated from the University’s Cornwall Campus this year, receiving qualifications across a range of subjects, including Biosciences, Mining Engineering, English, Geography, History, Law and Politics.
This year is also a landmark for the University and for Cornwall as, for the first time, Law graduates are among those at the ceremony.
Professor Steve Smith, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter, said: “All those students graduating have worked hard to get their degree, and I congratulate them on their success and wish them the very best for the future – wherever that may take them. To see our first cohort of Law graduates from Cornwall is also very satisfying. I applaud the dedication of students and staff to mark this first for the University and for Cornwall.”
The £100 million Tremough Campus is a Combined Universities in Cornwall initiative of which the University of Exeter and University College Falmouth are two of the founding partners. The two higher education institutions share and jointly manage the Campus in an arrangement that is unique in the UK. It is funded mainly by the European Union (Objective One and Convergence), the South West Regional Development Agency and the Higher Education Funding Council for England, with support from Cornwall Council. Set in 95 acres of countryside, but close to the waterside towns of Penryn and Falmouth, the Campus offers a lively student community. The University of Exeter now offers degrees in Biology, Modern Celtic and Cornish Studies, English, Geology, Geography, History, Law, Mining Engineering, Politics and Renewable Energy at the Campus, which continues to be developed.
