Are you one of Exeter’s ten grand people?

Are you one of Exeter’s 10 grand people?

Researchers are looking for 10,000 people with a permanent address within 25 miles of Exeter to join a research register called ‘Exeter 10,000’. The Exeter 10,000 project aims to recruit 10,000 volunteers over five years to help improve healthcare.

The study is being conducted by the Peninsula NIHR Clinical Research Facility, which is part of the University of Exeter.

Participation involves a 30-minute medical which includes the donation of a small blood and urine sample. Half of the sample will used to measure diagnostic markers such as blood sugar and cholesterol, which can be shared with the volunteer, and the remaining half are saved in a biobank, for scientists to use for research into the mechanisms of common diseases. Participants will also be informed of any future research studies at the Clinical Research Facility that require volunteers with their specific profile. This coordinated system will help facilitate medical research in the Peninsula and will potentially lead to improvements in diagnosis and treatment for common diseases, such as diabetes.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact crf@pms.ac.uk / 01392 406769. Clinics also take place every Tuesday and Thursday at the Peninsula Medical School building at Wonford.
