Record nominations for Exeter in prestigious awards

Four nominations marks a record total for the University in the awards, which attracted almost 200 entries from 95 different institutions.

This follows on from success last year when the University picked up two awards for University Outstanding Fundraising Team and Outstanding Marketing/Communications Team.

The awards are designed to celebrate the sector's leadership, management, financial and business skills by showcasing the work carried out at UK higher education institutions.

David Allen, Registrar and Deputy Chief Executive of the University, said: “The past year has seen a period of unprecedented growth and development for the University. We’ve been named as one of the fastest growing organisations in Europe and in the top 25 in the UK; we’ve carried out the biggest recruitment campaign in our history; been named in the top 200 universities in the world for the first time; carried out a major academic reorganisation; and completed the major part of £275 million of investment in new facilities.

“All these fantastic achievements have only been possible due to the hard work and dedication of our staff, so it’s great to see them recognised with a record number of nominations in these prestigious awards. It really highlights the importance of our staff to the continuing success of this university, and I’d like to congratulate all those involved in the nominations.”

The award nominations are:

Outstanding International Strategy – for International Exeter, recognised for its wide ranging and proactive approach to establishing a university of global standing.

ICT Initiative of the Year – for the Layar augmented reality for smartphones project, which enables students and visitors to any of the University’s campuses to access a host of information through their mobile phones.

Outstanding Human Resources Team – for helping to deliver the biggest recruitment drive in the University’s history, as well as leading academic reorganisation, pension reform, and other initiatives.

Outstanding Leadership and Management Team – for providing a clear strategic direction, excellent financial management and fostering a shared vision for the future.

The winners of this year’s THE awards will be announced at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London, on 16 June.
