Leading academic sheds light on current economic threats in public lecture

Currently the Bruce V. Rauner Professor of Economics at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire Professor David ‘Danny’ Blanchflower, will be enlightening his audience on the topical subject of ‘Inflation or deflation: which is the greater threat?’

Professor Blanchflower was one of the few economists to correctly judge the depth of the recession. His research on a variety of topics including economics, finance, unemployment, entrepreneurship and happiness has been widely published. He was awarded Princeton University’s Richard A. Lester Prize for his book, ‘The Wage Curve’ which was described as ‘the most outstanding book in industrial relations and labour economics.’

He is a Bloomberg TV contributing editor, economics editor for the New Statesman and an occasional columnist for a wide variety of other news media, both here and in the USA Professor Blanchflower was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2009 Queen’s Birthday Honours.

The lecture will begin at 6.15pm on 24 May in the XFi Lecture Theatre on the Streatham Campus with a video link to the campus in Tremough, Cornwall. Attendance is free but requires registration by emailing the events office.
