Jackie Bagnall to judge Guardian Sustainable Business Awards

The judging panel for the 2012 Guardian Sustainable Business Awards was revealed this month and the School is delighted to announce that Guardian Sustainable Business approached Jackie Bagnall, deputy director of the One Planet MBA to join the panel of judges.

She will be amongst a group of industry leaders, renowned in the communications, environmental and sustainability fields.

The awards, now in their second year, highlight leadership in the field of sustainable business and provide a platform to share these stories in the hope that others will take up the mantle.

Jo Confino, executive editor of the Guardian and chair of Guardian Sustainable Business said:

'All the judges are recognised leaders in their fields and are known not only for their expertise but also their commitment to transforming the way businesses approach sustainability. We are delighted they have agreed to join us in choosing those companies that are challenging the status quo and showing a better way to do business.'

Winners of last year’s awards ranged from global corporations, such as Sony and Unilever to the very small, with Islington-based furniture manufacturers, Chest of Drawers winning the Supply Chain award. Others who scooped awards included household names such as Marks & Spencer, Tesco and Cafédirect.

Along with a prestigious ceremony, held in London in May 2012, all winners will be invited for a morning of inspiration, discussion and collaboration at the Guardian in the weeks following the ceremony. Winning businesses will feature on the Guardian Sustainable Business Best Practice Exchange. The exchange profiles the best sustainable business initiatives and has become a regular reference point for those looking to drive sustainable business in practice.

The awards categories are as follows: communicating sustainability; engaging employees; social impact; biodiversity; supply chain; carbon; innovation; collaboration; waste and recycling ;water; energy; built environment. The winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in May 2012
