Inaugural awards seek student and staff nominations

There are seven awards categories which, amongst other criteria, will be judged according to the level of recognisable changes to public policy and/or public services; commercial or industrial activity or quality of life and cultural outputs. The seven categories are Outstanding Impact in Commerce & Industry; Outstanding Impact in Public Policy & Services; Outstanding Social & Cultural Impact; Outstanding International Impact; Outstanding Regional Impact; Student Impact and The Bright Future Award.

Professor Nick Talbot, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research & Knowledge Transfer said ‘The research being undertaken across the University is making a huge difference to society and we would like to recognise this by highlighting some of the best examples in a high profile celebration event on 7 December 2011. The Exeter Impact Awards will provide a fantastic opportunity to showcase research to other academics, collaborators, and the wider public. Shortlisted candidates will have their nominated research publicised online and in print prior to the Gala Dinner, and winners will receive further publicity during and following the event in addition to the award itself.’

The deadline for entries is 5pm on Friday 30 September 2011. The judging panel which is made up of University academic and professional services staff, students and distinguished external experts meets on 18 October 2011 to decide on the finalists.
