Teaching Awards 2012
Teaching Awards - shortlist announced
Now in their third year, the Students Guild Teaching Awards have smashed all previous records receiving 2,021 individual nominations for 636 individual members of staff.
Following the publication of the shortlist today, the winners will be announced at a ceremony in the University’s Great Hall on 3 May 2012.
Again this year students have been given a chance to acknowledge their favourite academic staff at the University and say ‘thank you’ to those staff who go above and beyond what is expected of them. These awards do not take account of seniority, only the positive effect academics have on students.
Nominations were open in eight categories:
• Best Lecturer
• Innovative Teaching
• Research Inspired Teaching
• Best Feedback Provider
• Supportive Member of Staff
• Best Employability Support
• Change Agents Champion
• Best Postgraduate Teacher
“These awards do not take account of the seniority of staff members’ positions, but illustrate the positive effect all staff have on students. This is the students’ way of saying they appreciate staff efforts,” says Guild Vice President Academic Affairs James Eales. “We run these awards because we hope the nominations prove how valued and appreciated staff are by the students they teach, as well as showcasing examples of fantastic practice,” he adds.
