The ILM Centre at the University of Exeter has delivered learning to over 240 staff

Management awards for sixteen staff

Sixteen staff members have been presented with awards from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

ILM qualifications accredit real workplace learning by assessing the candidates’ understanding of different workplace situations, issues, policies and activities and their ability to apply this understanding in practical ways.

Zachary Nashed, Academic Services;  James McNaughton, College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences; Sarah O’Brien, Business School; Maggie Bishop, Business School; Maggie Smith, Research and Knowledge Transfer; Alex Ratcliffe, College of Humanities;  Susan Addo, College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences; Tracy Burns, College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences; Victoria Flockhart, Academic Services;  Claire Galliford, Academic Services and Andrea Schoefbeck, College of Social Science and International Studies all received awards.

The following also received their Aspirational Managers Programme certificates having successfully completed their 12 month curriculum of learning and development: Amy Boylan, College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences; Leanne Crawford, College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences; Laura Bonner, Academic Services ; Robert Coffey, Academic Services; Matthew Hilling, College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences; and Emma Hewerdine, Finance Services.

Each qualification is supported by a programme of learning delivered in flexible, individual workshops that can be combined and taken in the order that best suits the individual.

Clive Betts, Staff Learning and Development, manages the ILM Centre at the University of Exeter.  He says: “Congratulations to all these colleagues who have worked hard to achieve these qualifications.  They’ve had to produce written assessments that cover a wide range of topics from motivating staff and planning work to solving problems, managing performance and becoming an effective leader. They are assessed at the level most appropriate to their job role and experience, increasing in complexity and range from Level 2 (Award in Leadership and Team Skills) to Level 4 (Certificate in Leadership and Management).”

Since its launch in April 2010, the ILM Centre has delivered learning to over 240 staff and awarded qualifications to 52 candidates with another 20 qualifying this year at Levels 2, 3 and 4. A further 65 staff are currently working towards, or have just started a qualification.

The Centre will be seeking re-approval to deliver ILM qualifications in April 2014. Find out more here.
