Election time at the Students’ Guild

Voting opens in the Sabbatical Elections for the Students’ Guild and Athletics Union at 9am on Friday 1 February 2013. Twenty-one students have put themselves forward as candidates for the five elected positions who will lead the Students’ Guild for the 2013-14 academic year.

The President is elected to lead and direct the Guild, speak on behalf of all Exeter students, and make sure that students’ voices are heard by acting as a link between them and the University. The candidates standing for this position are: Bella Berngart (Sociology & Philosophy), Hugh Blackstaffe (Film), Hannah Barton (Psychology), Nic Craig (Geography), Kathryn Jarvis (Law), Stuart Still (Politics).

The VP Academic Affairs works to ensure that students are getting the best educational experience they possibly can.  Standing for VP Academic Affairs are: Daryl Hurst (Classics), Alex Louch (History), Alex Phillips (Psychology), Louis Tsiattalou (Mathematics).

It is the VP Welfare and Community’s job to make sure that students remain safe and happy, and maintain a strong relationship with the wider community. Chris Rootkin (Bioscience), Ledys Sanjuan (Masters in Politics), and Sam Sayce (Drama) are all standing for this position. 

The VP Campuses and Participation oversees all the activities and volunteering taking place at Exeter, and ensures that both the St. Luke's and Streatham campuses are being provided for. The candidates standing are: Jak Curtis-Rendall (Geography), Emma Ollis (Drama), Abbe Cooper (Law).

The Athletics Union President represents the student body on all sporting matters. Standing for AU President are: James Gibson (History), Alex Powell (Sport & Health Science), Laurie Potter (Sport & Health Science), Brendan Gilson (Sport & Health Science), David Rogal (Bioscience).

The campuses will be alive with campaigning as voting in the election opens 9am February 1 and closes at 4pm on Friday 8 February. The winners will take office in July 2013. Voting is online via www.exeterguild.org/elections
