Beth Reeks, a first year Physics student, has been named as one of Time magazine’s Most Influential Teens of 2013.

Beth, who comes from Newport in Wales, self-published her debut novel The Kissing Booth when she was 15. It has since gone on to register 19 million online hits. She has subsequently been awarded a three book deal with top publishers, Random House.

Beth came 14th in the New York-based magazine’s list of The 16 Most Influential Teens of 2013. Others who featured on the list included Justin Bieber and Malala Yousafzai.

She said: ""To be ranked alongside Malala Yousafzai is incredible; I don't think that my achievements come anywhere near hers, and I'm really humbled to be on the list. It's an incredible collection of people and I'm thrilled to be one of them.

"It's all been such a whirlwind, and sometimes I sit back and think about it, and I can't quite believe it's all really happened.

"Nonetheless, I'm determined to see through my degree and keep my career options open."

Beth writes under the pen name Beth Reekles.

She was also nominated and short listed for the Women of the Future 'Young Star' award, with five other young women aged 16-21. She received a special mention from the judges for being a great role model to young girls.
