Business School graduate scoops prestigious national award

Selin Yigitbasi who recently graduated in Business and Management with proficiency in French from the University of Exeter Business School has also been awarded the Institute of Directors (IoD) Student of the Year prize.

To enter for the award Selin had to complete an application form in which she had to demonstrate her commercial awareness, drive, resilience and ambition. She was also required to make a short video and attend an assessment day.

Selin commented: “It was quite a tough process, but you expect that for such a prestigious award. I am thrilled to have won and the ceremony, which was held in the heart of the City of London, was a fantastic experience.”

Not content with winning the award and gaining her degree, Selin has been undertaking a number of placements and internships since graduating, focussed on honing her marketing and advertising skills. Next year she plans to head off to Singapore for some additional work experience before going to Paris for three months to improve her fluency in French.

Selin concluded: “It’s been a busy year so far with more hard work ahead, but I’ve enjoyed every minute. I’m looking forward to this time next year when I hope to be settled in my first full time, permanent position.”
