How will you demonstrate our values in action?

University celebrates Charter Day and its launch of new values with mulled wine and mince pies

The University is planning a festive event to mark the anniversary of receiving the Royal Charter and the achievement of full University status, as well as to celebrate the launch of its new values.

The event will take place on Wednesday 16 December, beginning with a short talk by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Steve Smith, in the Alumni Auditorium. A short video to introduce our values and why they are important will also be shown.

This talk is open to all colleagues and will take place in the Alumni Auditorium at 2.15pm.

This talk will be followed by a mulled wine toast in the Forum Street, also hosted by the Vice Chancellor, to mark the anniversary of our Charter and to celebrate our Diamond Jubilee year. Students are welcome to attend this toast and share in the celebration of our success and achievements, particularly  over the last 60 years.

Colleagues will be able to find out more about our values and how we can demonstrate these in action by visiting stands in the Forum Street. There will also be the opportunity to make a ‘Values in Action Pledge’ to hang on our ‘Values Christmas Tree’, and there will be a competition running with the opportunity to win £100 for the charity of your choice.

Festive refreshments including soft drinks, mulled wine and mince pies will be served in the Forum Street from 3pm.

Buses will be available for colleagues at St Luke’s who would like to attend the event. St Luke’s colleagues can email Internal Communications by 9 December for a bus seat.

Colleagues at Penryn and Truro are invited to a festive celebration with Professor Mark Goodwin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Innovation and External Engagement) on 18 December at the Penryn campus. A celebration cake to mark our Diamond Jubilee Charter Day will be available for this event and Professor Goodwin will toast the occasion. Any colleagues who would like to attend the event at Streatham on 16 December can email Internal Communications by 9 December to arrange transport.
