University of Exeter retains top 10 status in THE "Table of Tables"
The University of Exeter has retained its top 10 position in the Times Higher Education “Table of Tables”, announced today (October 15).
Exeter remains in 9th position - the best of any South West university- in the league table, which is based on the combined results of the UK’s three main domestic university rankings.
The University is currently ranked in the top 10 in all three main UK rankings, The Complete University Guide, the rankings published by The Guardian, and the combined Times and Sunday Times’ Good University Guide.
Exeter was also recently ranked in the global top 100 universities for the first time in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, positioned 93rd.
Meanwhile, the University has also been awarded a Green rating in the inaugural free speech university rankings, prepared by the online magazine Spiked.
The Green rating, given for those institutions that take a “hands-off approach”, recognises the University’s commitment to providing a forum for the free exchange of ideas.
Exeter’s extract for the rankings read: “The University of Exeter and the University of Exeter Students’ Guild collectively create an open environment for free speech. The university, which has received a Green ranking, places no restrictions on speech or expression.
The Guild, which has received an Amber ranking, is broadly open to free speech, but does require that visiting speakers refrain from ‘insulting faith groups’. The openness of the university combined with the relative openness of the guild means the institution’s overall ranking is Green.”
