Exeter retains top-200 position for best employers for LGBT staff
The University of Exeter has been named as one of the top-200 best employers in Britain for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff.
The University has retained its top-200 status in the rankings, published by leading charity Stonewall today (January 18 2016).
Exeter is ranked 185th in the charity’s 12th annual Workplace Equality Index – with its overall scoring rising from 82 in 2015 to 87 this year.
The Index is based on a range of key indicators which include a confidential questionnaire of staff.
Dorcas Cowan, the University’s Equality and Diversity Manager said: “We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where staff and students can be themselves and reach their full potential.
"Working with Stonewall helps us as an organisation to evaluate our initiatives and promote a better working environment for LGBT staff and we are delighted to once again be named within the top-200 organisations in the UK".
The University joined Stonewall’s Diversity Champions Programme, a good practice employers’ forum for LGBT issues in the workplace, in August 2013.
