Business School appoints new Pro-Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean

Professor Allen joins Exeter from the University of Surrey, where he is currently the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). His appointment at Exeter is pending formal ratification of the appointment at the Council meeting on July 7, and he is expected to start his new role in September.

Professor Allen enjoys a global reputation as one of the leading academics in his field, and brings a wealth of experience to the Business School.

He has previously held the position of Professor of Strategy and Business Ethics at the IE Business School in Madrid, where he co-founded an online International MBA and was ranked amongst the top 100 most outstanding Business School Teachers by Business Week.

More recently, he was the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Surrey, where he led a series of successful international strategies and helped found the School of Economics.

Professor Allen said he was "truly delighted" to be joining Exeter's Business School. He said: "The University of Exeter has been extraordinarily successful, and I am thrilled to be able to lead a young, innovative and hugely successful business school to future success.

"I am excited to be working with colleagues in the Business School, whose ground-breaking degree programmes and research address the major issues that we face, as well as taking up a position as a member of the Executive Board of this truly outstanding university.

"I am grateful to my colleagues at the University of Surrey who gave me the opportunity to do so many wonderful things and with whom I have had the privilege of sharing six great years."
