Exeter subjects secure top 10 positions in latest Guardian rankings
A wide range of subjects at the University of Exeter have secured top 10 positions in this year’s Guardian rankings.
Thirteen subjects are ranked in the Top 10 in the Guardian University Guide 2017, which was published today.
The University of Exeter Medical School’s Medicine programme is once again ranked as the best in the South West, climbing one place to 10th position, while both Religious Studies and Theology (2nd) and Sports Science (5th) maintain their positions in the top five of the rankings.
Meanwhile, Forensic Science and Archaeology (6th), English and Creative Writing (7th), Engineering: Materials and Mineral (7th) Politics (7th), History (8th), Sociology (8th), Biosciences (9th), Classics and Ancient History (9th), History of Art (9th) and Philosophy (9th) all make the top 10.
Other subjects that rose in the rankings include Geography and Environmental Studies (11th) and Physics (13th), while Law rose 10 places year-on-year, ranking 44th.
The latest league table also ranks Exeter 11th out of 119 UK higher education institutions, ranked 6th in the Russell Group of leading research intensive universities and ahead of UCL, Birmingham and Edinburgh.
The Guardian ranking comes just days after Exeter was placed sixth in the UK, eighth in Europe and top 40 in the world in the CWTS Leiden Ranking, which offers key insights into the scientific performance of more than 800 major universities worldwide.
