Excellence recognised at annual Teaching Awards

The awards, which are run by the Students’ Guild and FXU, recognise both teaching innovation and excellence, as well as examples of exceptional support offered by academic and professional services staff. All of the nominations are put forward by students themselves with the volume of nominations giving the judging panel a tough job to choose the winners.

“The awards are so special because they celebrate a relationship that lies at the heart of the academic community – that between engaged students and passionate, committed, creative lecturers,” said Professor Tim Quine, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education). “The fact that all of the over 1,300 nominations come from our students means they are a very authentic reflection of educational excellence within the University of Exeter”

The title of Best Lecturer went to Matt Campbell, Associate Professor from Sport and Health Sciences. Most Supportive Member of Staff was Calum Beeson, from the Camborne School of Mines.

“It was an absolute pleasure to host the ninth annual Teaching Awards with FXU this year,” said Bryony Loveless, VP Education at the Students’ Guild.

“I personally read nearly all the nominations, of which we received over 1,300. They were both moving and inspiring, and shows how dedicated and passionate University staff are about the providing an exceptional learning and teaching experience to our students”.
