Award for Exeter’s support for researchers

The HR Excellence in Research Award is an important mechanism for implementing the principles of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. Exeter has demonstrated long-term support and development of researchers at all levels, with innovations ranging from Doctoral College coffee mornings to a full researcher development programme all having an impact. 

The award was retained after an eight year review, and includes an action plan for the next two years. This looks at the entire journey for our community of more than 940 researchers, from undergraduate level through to Senior Research Fellows and Professors. This will help meet the aspirations of the new University’s Research and Impact Strategy 2020-2025, due to be published in early 2020..

Dr Clive Betts, Head of People Development at the University of Exeter said: “Retaining this award has been a real team effort, working closely with Dr Chris Wood, the ECR Researcher Development Manager and colleagues from the Doctoral College, Academic Development, Research Services, ED&I as well as researchers themselves to ensure our action plan meets the needs of our community of researchers. We want to develop them as they carry out their world-leading research and for Exeter to be a supportive and desirable place to work.”
