Divest, Invest, Engage: Find out how the University invests responsibly

Making socially responsible investments is incredibly important to the University and we are committed to ensuring that we make investment decisions responsibly and with integrity.

Our most recent change in investment has followed feedback from colleagues and students in support of the climate and environment emergency, and this has resulted in the University stopping any direct investments in fossil fuel companies.

To ensure we continue investing responsibly whilst minimising any negative impact on our investment returns, we have updated our investment policy and we are working with a new ethical investment manager – Rathbone Greenbank, to further explore opportunities that integrate our financial aims with our ethical priorities.

We want everyone in our community to have the chance to understand more about our investment policy and how Rathbones will integrate environmental, social and governance issues into our investment process. We are running an open session in Exeter with video link to Penryn and all colleagues are invited to attend. The session will provide an overview of the policy from our Chief Financial Officer, Andrew Connolly, and there will be an opportunity to hear from Rathbones on their ethical investment approach in selecting companies to invest in, exclude and engage with. There will also be a Q&A session following these short presentations. The session takes place on Tuesday 24 March, 12:45pm, Washington Singer, Room 219, video linked to Peter Lanyon Seminar Room 3, Penryn. If you have any questions, or wish to submit a question prior to the event, please contact Sally Harrington.
