Join expert discussion on saving the oceans
Scientists specialising in the marine environment will answer questions on ocean conservation during a free online event organised by the University of Exeter.
The health of our oceans is in decline, and the panel will discuss ways to protect and restore vital marine biodiversity.
They will also talk about the impact of marine degradation on human health and communities around the world.
The hour-long event will start at 1pm on Tuesday (10 November) and will be introduced by Exeter Vice-Chancellor Professor Lisa Roberts.
Questions can be submitted in advance or asked during the event, and attendees are asked to book their place online.
"Saving our oceans must be a priority, and indeed one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals is to ‘Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources’," said Professor Brendan Godley, who will chair the discussion.
"During this event we’ll look at some of the ways we can achieve this – considering issues like Marine Protected Areas, plastic pollution and ocean acidification, sustainable fisheries, and habitat restoration."
The panel members will be:
Sophie Corrigan (University of Exeter)
Professor Pennie Lindeque (Plymouth Marine Laboratory)
Professor Karyn Morrissey (European Centre for Environment and Human Health)
Professor Callum Roberts (University of Exeter)
Hugo Tagholm (Surfers Against Sewage)
Ruth Williams (Cornwall Wildlife Trust)
