University of Exeter ranked among top 200 universities in the world in new analysis

The University of Exeter has been ranked among the top 200 higher education institutions in the world as part of new analysis.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) has put the University of Exeter 151 to 200 in the world and 15 to 20 in the UK.

The ARWU is published and copyrighted by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, a fully independent organization on higher education intelligence and not legally subordinated to any universities or government agencies.

ARWU uses six objective indicators to rank world universities, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, number of highly cited researchers selected by Clarivate Analytics, number of articles published in journals of Nature and Science, number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index - Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index, and per capita performance of a university. More than 1800 universities are actually ranked by ARWU every year and the best 1000 are published.

This year the University of Exeter was ranked in the top 150 in the QS World University Rankings for the first time. Exeter is now ranked 149th in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2022 – a rise of 15 places compared to last year – placing it among the very best institutions worldwide.
