Exeter MBA named 4th best in UK in ‘Better World’ sustainability ranking

The University of Exeter Business School’s MBA programme has been named fourth best in the UK in a prestigious ‘better world’ ranking that focuses on commitment to sustainability.

The Exeter MBA was 14th in the world out of a total of 160 MBA programmes in the Corporate Knights 2022 Better World MBA ranking.

The prestigious rankings measure how Business Schools’ core courses and research are aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and diversity of faculty members.

Professor Alexandra Gerbasi, Dean of the University of Exeter Business School and Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Exeter’s Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy, said: “We are delighted to have once again performed so strongly in the Corporate Knights Better World ranking, and I pay tribute to our academic tutors who are committed to the values of responsible leadership that are core to The Exeter MBA programme.

“We believe it is crucial for businesses to recognise and take action over their carbon emissions and their impact on nature and biodiversity if the world is serious about meeting its ambitious climate targets.

“But this will not happen without a new generation of leaders equipped with the skills, knowledge and values to drive change and create the better world we aspire towards.”

Business Schools were graded by seven indicators: the core course integration of sustainability, research publications per faculty member on sustainability topics; percentage of faculty publications in 2021 on sustainability topics; the number of citations per faculty for those publications; sustainability-focused research institutes and centres; and faculty gender and racial diversity.

“Today’s top MBA programs understand that future corporate leaders will be tasked with integrating social, environmental and economic factors into daily business decisions,” said Toby Heaps, CEO and co-founder of Corporate Knights. “By adapting their curriculums, these programs are equipping students to deal with new realities and challenges already shaping the global business community.”
