Research in Focus
The Arts & Culture Team is pleased to announce Research in Focus, a photographic competition open to students, staff and alumni of the University of Exeter.
As part of the Forum Project, the refurbishment of the Main Library will create some significant spaces for the display of artworks for students to enjoy, on all three floors.
Through the Research in Focus photography competition, these spaces will be used to showcase the creativity of the University’s students, staff and alumni.
Entrants to the competition will be invited to submit an original photograph inspired by one of the University’s current or emerging research themes.
The winning photographs from the competition will be reproduced and put on long-term display in the Main Library.
The competition will be judged by a panel which will include the alumnus Kim Millon, a freelance food, wine, travel and portrait photographer as well as the co-author of a dozen books, who studied English and Fine Art at the University of Exeter.
Entrants with winning photographs displayed in the Library will be invited to a special view with Kim Millon.
Dr Jessica Gardner, Acting Assistant Director (Library & Research Support) said, “This is a real opportunity to showcase Exeter’s creative talent and to promote the best of our research in a space that attracts over 600,000 visitors per year. The winning photographs will enhance the library for all staff and students”
The closing date for entries is Monday 31 October 2011.
Please visit the University’s Arts & Culture web pages for more information about the competition brief and an entry form.
