The Ruler of Sharjah received a guided tour of the new Forum building.
Ruler of Sharjah makes Forum visit
The Ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Shaikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, PhD, Hon DLitt received a tour of University’s new Forum project, ahead of its official opening by Her Majesty the Queen.
His Highness, who is also a Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and completed his PhD at Exeter, is a valued supporter of the project.
His Highness was accompanied by His Excellency Abdulrahman Ghanem Almutaiwee, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates. They were welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Steve Smith and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Neil Armstrong. In recognition of his support, the Vice-Chancellor presented His Highness with a special wooden bowl created from the two trees which unfortunately were felled to make way for the project.
The Vice-Chancellor said: “His Highness has shared our vision for what this building can achieve and our belief in the power of education to transform lives. We will be forever grateful for his overwhelmingly generous support and the impact it will have on students for generations to come.”
His Highness also took time to visit the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, which he funded. While there he met with a number of senior academics and students.

“The Forum is a stunning facility which would not be possible without his involvement and it was very exciting to be able to show him what has been achieved.”
