Adam accepting his award for Contribution to Business Growth.
Business growth recognised with award
An Exeter alumnus has received an award for contributing to the growth of a renewable energy company.
Adam Longfield (Renewable Energy 2010) joined wind and solar installation specialist Natural Generation Ltd, after graduating from the Cornwall Campus. Since that time the Cornish company has grown significantly, seeing its year-on-year turnover quadruple.
This success was recognised when Adam won the Contribution to Business Growth category at the Unlocking Cornish Potential (UCP) awards, a ceremony attended by 150 guests. In addition to business growth, Adam was awarded for his "knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm". UCP aims to match talented graduates to progressive Cornish companies to help increase growth, economic prosperity, creativity and competitiveness within the county.
Adam said: “Since joining the company in September 2010, I have gained a mass of experience in the rapidly expanding and exciting industry of renewable energy. The role as a Renewable Energy Design Engineer was the perfect opportunity for me following graduation and allowed me to use the skills I had learnt during the degree course. I decided to take the bull by the horns from the outset and adopted a steep learning curve to adapt to the working world.
“With the help of UCP, Natural Generation Ltd were able to provide a young graduate like me with an opportunity to work and prove myself. The support from UCP has been superb and I am so happy to be recognised for my efforts with this award.
“Working in Cornwall with a fun and enthusiastic team who share my passion for renewable energy is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It is a pleasure to know that each and every change we make today will help tomorrow’s world and I am proud to be part of it."
Adam is still with Natural Generation Ltd and is developing his skills in other areas of renewable energy as the business continues to expand.
