Anne Peile (English and American Studies with History, 2001)
New novel follows on from Orange success
Exeter alumna Anne Peile (English and American Studies with History, 2001) is about to publish a second novel, Seeing the World. The new book is set in London and Kennedy era America and follows her successful debut, Repeat it today with Tears, which was long listed for the prestigious Orange Prize for Fiction in 2011.
Anne, who uses Peile as her pen-name and was known at Exeter as Anne Lavan, came to the University as a mature student. She graduated in English and American Studies with History in 2001 before moving to Ireland for post-graduate study. It was whilst she was subsequently working for the BBC in Belfast that she started writing Repeat it today with Tears; set in 1970s Chelsea the book tells the controversial story of a young woman seeking her absent father.
Anne now lives in London and works for the iconic Charing Cross Road branch of Foyle’s bookstore. She writes in her spare time and is currently working on a television screenplay.
