Thank you! Alumni volunteering leads to international award
The thousands of hours of time given by Exeter graduates to help current students at the University has been recognised with an international award.
The impact of the pioneering volunteering programme caught the attention of judges at international organisation CASE. They awarded Exeter the top honour they can bestow - the gold award in their 2012 Circle of Excellence Awards programme.
Susie Hills, Director of Development and Alumni Relations, said: “This prestigious award reflects the enormous impact our alumni make by helping our students and staff, and I want to thank each and every person who has taken part.
“It is wonderful to see so many graduates stepping forward with enthusiasm to help those following in their footsteps. It’s this kind of dedication which makes Exeter the special place it is.”
Since the volunteering programme started at Exeter in 2008 more than 1,500 alumni have taken part, giving more than 15,000 hours of time. Projects have ranged from working on a one-to-one basis to mentor individual students, giving careers talk, practice job interviews and lending expertise to University governance.
All of the projects have one thing in common – improving the experience for students at Exeter.
