Ghostly Publishing specialises in children's fantasy
New publishing house established by graduate
Budding children's authors are being invited to submit their manuscripts to a brand new publishing house set up by an Exeter alumnus.
Ghostly Publishing, which specialises in fantasy fiction for children written by authors from the south-west of the UK, was launched last year.
'Ghostly Publishing' was launched by Neil Trigger (English 2003) after he wrote a fantasy book for his daughter to read called The Weird Case of Mrs Etherington-Strange. As the book grew he published sections on his blog, only to have requests from people keen to buy their own copy. When it was complete he sent the proof to some agents who came back with positive comments.
“I got good feedback and thought I could send it direct to the publishers,” Neil explained. “I sent it direct, received more good feedback and thought I’ll publish it myself. Around the same time, I was made redundant, and so rather than sit on the dole, I took on other authors and made a business.”
Since last year ten titles have been published, with nine authors and two illustrators on the books. Neil is looking to grow still further, with more submissions being considered over the next year.
