Exe-X: Women Inspiring the World
Inspiring women gather for Alumnae Group’s second reception
The Alumnae Group’s second reception, ‘Exe:X – Women Inspiring the World’, was a great success following their inaugural reception last November and has generated many declarations of support for the group.
Over 100 guests came together to be inspired by a selection of female speakers from a variety of backgrounds all sharing their knowledge, research or experience of how they have made a successful career through difficult circumstances.
Our speakers were:
• Sarah Buck (Engineering Science 1974), Director, BSW Consulting Ltd and member of Council, University of Exeter
• Helen Kongai, Agricultural Development Officer, Uganda, Eastern Region, Send A Cow
• Caroline Lucas (English 1983), MP for Brighton Pavilion and leader of the Green Party of England & Wales
• Debra Myhill (English 1980), Professor of Education and Associate Dean for Research, University of Exeter
• Jessica Pryce-Jones (Classics 1983), CEO of the iOpener Institute for People and Performance
The evening was also a fantastic opportunity for alumni to network with the speakers and one another following the inspiring presentations.
Many offers of help and support have come in since the reception. The Alumnae Group are already planning activities for next year to further support our female graduates.
The evening was generously hosted by Sarah Turvill (Law 1975), Chairman, Willis International and Chair of Council, University of Exeter.
