Michele Shoebridge speaking at the Alumnae SW group launch
Successful Launch of the South West Alumnae Group
The first Exeter Alumnae Group for the South West was launched at a special event at the University.
The group was formed as a direct response to requests from graduates. It follows the successful launch of the London-based alumnae group nearly 18 months ago. Like its South-East counterpart, the focus of the new group is to offer alumnae mutual support, encouragement and friendship in both their careers and personal lives
Around 30 women attended the launch event held at the Northcott Theatre, which included a tour of the new Forum in the heart of the Streatham campus. Introductory talks were by Michele Shoebridge, Deputy Registrar and Director of Academic Services and Lucy Studholme Alumni Network Group member and member of the board of the Northcott Theatre.
“We were very encouraged when we received the requests to set up the Alumnae Group in the South West and only too pleased to do offer our support,” said Rachael Magee, Alumni Officer for networks and groups.
“It was a really successful launch event and we’d like to thank all those who came and offered their input – alumni as well as alumnae.
“The group has its own committee and will be planning events based on direct feedback from members – and the University will help where it can.”
The event and subsequent South West Alumnae Group is being led by a group of alumnae volunteers including:
- Heather Fairbairn (MA Complementary Health Studies 2003)
- Deborah Hallett neé Porter (Dip Leadership, 2002)
- Maria Harding (LL.M in International Business Legal Studies 1997 & MBA in General Management 2007)
- Lucy Studholme neé Deans-Chrystall (English with Commonwealth Arts 1985)
The event was kindly sponsored by Deborah Hallett - At 90 Degrees Ltd. www.at90degrees.com and Lucy Studholme - Alumni Network Group & Northcott Theatre Board
