Arctic cyclists Lynne Medlock and Marie Faithfull
Gearing up for arctic adventure
This summer two Exeter friends will cycle 1500 miles from London to the Arctic Circle in aid of Wheels for Wellbeing.
Lynne Medlock (Business and Accounting 2011) and current student Marie Faithfull have teamed up to undertake a gruelling five week cycle across Europe from London to the Arctic Circle in Norway.
The pair are aiming to start the expedition on 10th August leaving from Westminster in London to finish 5 weeks later in Bodø, Norway by the 15th of September. This tight schedule means that they will have to cycle at least 50 miles each day to reach the Arctic Circle within their deadline.
The expedition is raising money for Wheels for Wellbeing, a London-based charity for cyclists with disabilities. Lynne and Marie also hope their challenge will motivate others to get travelling and have their own adventures.
Lynne said of the upcoming challenge: “We’re hoping to raise over £2,000 for Wheels for Wellbeing, but this expedition will really be a success if it can inspire someone else to get on their bike and set off on an adventure too.”
Lynne and Marie will blogging throughout their trip. To find out more about the expedition visit their website http://www.adventure-to-the-arctic.eu
