Beth Fowler (Sport and Exercise Science 2000)
Alumna triathlete ranked 67th in the world
An Exeter alumna has had a great start to the professional triathlon season being ranked just outside the top 10 in the UK and top 100 in the World.
Beth Fowler (Sport and Exercise Science 2000) started competing as a professional triathlete in 2011 after being selected for Team GB in the ITU Olympic Distance Triathlon World Championships in Budapest. Since then Beth has enjoyed some great performances, finishing 7th in the Ironman Wales Triathlon and winning the TATA Steelman in 2012 and securing victories at both the prestigious Blaenavon Triathlon and Highland Warrior Triathlon this season.
As the Head of PE at a South Wales secondary school this is a busy year for Beth who currently juggles her training and competition commitments with her job but is actively seeking corporate sponsors to allow her to take a sabbatical from education and commit to her sport.
Beth said: “My dream is to compete as a full-time athlete at the elite level of the sport on the world stage. At the end of this season with the right financial support I will hopefully be able to commit full-time to being a professional athlete and rise up through the world rankings.”
Beth will be competing at the Ironman UK event at Bolton and the Ironman Wales race in Tenby over the next few months.
