Fay Sampson (Mathematics 1956)
Crime pays for Exeter alumna
An Exeter alumna author has found new success with her latest crime fiction series.
A published author for 38 years, Fay Sampson (Mathematics 1956), started her writing career as a children’s author and has had over 45 books published.
Fay has most recently turned to a life of crime writing after finding herself accidently penning a genealogical crime thriller. Her latest crime series The Aidan Mysteries has brought new success with the first novel in the series The Hunted Hare winning an award for Fiction Book of the Year from Christian Resources Together. The Hunted Hare tells the story of Aidan, Jenny and their daughter, Melangell, who find themselves caught up in a shocking murder when holidaying in a remote Welsh village with a mythological history.
“I am not interested in crime fiction which is simply about the solution of a crime,” said Fay. “For me, there has to be another dimension to the book. In the Aidan Mysteries, I decided that the extra dimension would be the settings in sacred places around the British Isles.”
The second book in the series, Death on Lindisfarne, has recently been published.
