Put your art into it!
Talented writers, visual artists, film-makers and musicians are invited to enter The Paddon Award 2015.
The competition is open to students, staff and alumni of Exeter who are not working in the professional arts. It is a great chance for those with an artistic streak to be recognised for their talent.
This year’s theme is Transformations and the categories are: visual art, film, prose, and musical composition. Winners will receive a cash prize, and the first prize winner will also be offered the exclusive opportunity to have a further one-to-one mentoring session with the judge of their choice.
Deadline for entries is 5pm on Monday 16 February 2015 and judging of shortlisted entries will take place from 5-7pm on 18 March 2015 on the Streatham Campus.
Full competition rules and information about how to submit your entry can be found on the University’s Arts & Culture website (www.artsandcultureexeter.ac.uk).
The Paddon Award was established in memory of two alumni who contributed greatly to fostering collaboration between alumni and students for the benefit of the University. Both were very interested in the arts so the annual prize was set up to encourage more people to explore their artistry.
Last year inspired 35 staff and students to enter the competition, with entries from paintings to a hand-felted rug and everything in-between. The standard of entries was incredibly high, and the Arts and Culture team looks forward to the same excellence this year.
Judges invited this year include award-winning folk-singer and alumna Jackie Oates, and Honorary Graduate Thomas Trevor, former Director of the Arnolfini Centre for Contemporary Arts in Bristol.
