Dishing up for hip hop fans

The world’s most famous rappers have been immortalised in recipes within a new cookbook, which was dreamed up at Exeter.

Snoop Stroganoff, Notorious P.I.G. and Tiramisu Elliott are among the dishes featured in Rapper’s Delight: The Hip Hop Cookbook, which was co-authored by graduates Joseph Inniss (Civil Engineering 2008) and Ralph Miller (International Relations 2008).

As well as featuring their 30 favourite hip hop artists in recipes, the pair also commissioned special illustrations to accompany the entries.

The idea came about when the two friends were studying at Exeter.

“Ralph and I first met in Duryard Halls and the book started as a running joke between our group of friends, we imagined the idea of a hip hop cafe where the menu was based on hip hop puns,” said Joseph.

“After uni we had the idea for a cook book and we started to take it more seriously, joining up with Ralph’s friend from school Peter Stadden.

“We are all massive foodies, hip hop and art are a huge part of lives, so this was a fantastic opportunity to combine these things we love.”

The recipe book was published by Swedish company Dokument Press and had its global launch this autumn. For more information, visit their website: www.rappersdelightcookbook.co.uk.
