Project management is increasingly being recognised as critical to the success of businesses large and small.
Get your head around project management
What is project management? Why do I need it? Where do I start? These are the questions that alumnus John Carroll (MSc Information Technology 2005) targets in his new book, Project Program and Portfolio Management in Easy Steps.
Calling on a wealth of experience in project management, John explains in simple terms why project management is increasingly being recognised as critical to the success of businesses large and small.
Whether you are commissioning, running, involved in, or even just interested in a project, John aims to guide you through the ins-and-outs of project management with ease, “We have all started a project without any clear management in place,” John says. “Things quickly fall apart and grind to a halt. What I want to do in this book is convince people that learning to project manage effectively is worth the time - for you and your business.”
John has run many projects throughout Europe and the United States and has experience with most types of organizations including government, higher education, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, software engineering and the emergency services. John also ran the phase of the University of Exeter Network Upgrade Project from 2008 to 2010.
Now retired, John lives in Devon and in addition to writing, enjoys walking, cycling, home-brewing, wine making and bread baking.
John is also the author of the following books:
