Alumnae and Students Tackle Career Challenges
Alumnae and female students were able to discuss and build their career strategies at a recent workshop held on campus.
The workshop was run by Kathryn Bishop, Associate Fellow at the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford and alumna Jessica Gibby (Spanish and French 1984) of Jade Language and Events.
The day offered an opportunity for women to focus on their skills and strengths and how to best develop them, to reflect on their career journeys so far and to look forwards; defining their future goals and purpose in their working life.
The day was very successful providing a brilliant opportunity not only to develop a career plan but also to share experiences and ideas between both graduates and students.
Alumna Sam Presley said of the workshop, “I can't tell you how helpful I found the course; it was so well presented and thought provoking, and I walked away not only with a career strategy that I am going start using next week but also the tools to help me keep developing my career in the future.”
The University’s Alumnae Group aims to help tackle the specific challenges facing women in their careers. Through events and activities they encourage alumnae to support each other in personal and professional development and involve alumnae in the life of the University.
