More success for our alumni authors
Celebrating our alumni authors
Congratulations to our alumni authors who have recently had their books published.
Take a look at the latest books available from our alumni authors:
Janet Few (PhD History, 2010): Barefoot on the Cobbles: a Devon tragedy
Historian and Exeter alumna, Janet Few (PhD History, 2010) has published several social history books but has now turned to writing fiction. Her first novel Barefoot on the Cobbles: a Devon tragedy was published in November 2018.
Vividly recreating life at the dawning of the twentieth century, Barefoot on the Cobbles is based on a real tragedy that lay hidden for nearly one hundred years. On the surface, it is an historical novel, as it is firmly embedded in a carefully researched time period.
Phil Wadey (BA Applied Mathematics, 86, PhD Mathematics, 90): Rights of Way
Alumnus Phil Wadey published his book Rights of Way: Restoring the Record as a co-author. The book outlines how to find paths that are not on the council's definitive map of rights of way. Unrecorded paths are extinguished by law on 1 January 2026, so there are only seven years left to get paths recorded. Yet, there are thousands of paths that are not yet on the official map, and it is falling to charitable sector volunteers to collect evidence and apply for each path found to be recorded. This book helps everyone involved in the process, whether unrecorded path spotting, to research, application, or local authority processing.
