‘Waking up to Planetary Health’ and other CPD opportunities for alumni
On 7 November 2018, Exeter University’s Medical School facilitated the ‘Waking up to Planetary Health’ conference at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital.
95 people, including Exeter alumni, attended a series of presentations and workshops addressing some of the key health challenges humanity faces in the 21st Century. A graphic illustrator was engaged to capture ideas and feedback during the workshops in real time, leaving participants with a fantastic visual representation of their discussions. To find out more check out the speakers’ presentations and recordings via this link.
These conversations come at a time of heightened focus on these issues and in January Prof Lora Fleming, Director for the European Centre for Environment and Human Health at the University of Exeter, spoke at the first ‘Planetary Health’ inquiry, hosted by the Environmental Audit Committee at House of Commons to explore the implications of global environmental change on human health.
We have plans to host a second planetary health conference in 2019 and we hope our Alumni will consider joining us to continue this important discussion.
Other exciting CPD opportunities for alumni in 2019 include:
- May 17 ‘Masterclass in Osteoporosis’ in collaboration with the Royal Osteoporosis Society
- June 28 2nd ‘Waking up to Heart Failure’ conference
- Sept 13 2nd Stroke Conference
- Date tbc 2nd planetary health conference
