Catching up with Jack Berringer (Politics & International Studies 2014)
Jack Berringer (Politics & International Studies 2014) is an account manager for Burson Cohn & Wolfe in Belgium. Here he reflects on the highlights of his career since graduating.
"Since leaving Exeter I moved to Brussels to pursue my passion for politics, working in the European Parliament from September 2014-May 2019 and specialising in regional development and later environment policy. Since May I have been working at the global consultancy Burson Cohn & Wolfe, as part of the sustainability team in which I focus on issues related to the circular economy and e-mobility. I have also since graduated with a Master's degree in Economics from KU Leuven.
My time in the Parliament was something of a natural progression for me, having studied politics and focusing on the EU accession process in my dissertation. Since my move into the private sector I have continued to focus on environmental policy, as I focused on during my final two years in the European Parliament. I have enjoyed my ability to play an active role in the legislative process, working for an MEP and participating in negotiations with the Commission and Council as well as now as a lobbyist."
