Open days at Penryn
Penryn Travel Bursary launched thanks to alumni
A new scheme to support prospective students attend open days on the Penryn Campus has been launched thanks to alumni donations.
Many students cannot afford to visit the campus prior to application due to travel costs, and although students from Widening Participation backgrounds sign up to open days, 41% then cannot make it.
Alumni support has now made it possible to offer qualifying students a travel bursary to cover their expenses. The scheme is initially in place for three years and will contribute between £50 and £200 towards an individual’s travel costs. Prospective students can apply online when registering for the events and then successful applicants simply hand in a form on the day to receive their support.
Exeter is committed to ensuring talented students have the opportunity to achieve their potential, irrespective of their financial circumstances. This new bursary scheme will help many young people take the first step into Higher Education.
