Exeter Science Park Entrepreneurs excite Director General of BEIS

Entrepreneurs and business leaders from Exeter Science Park have demonstrated the region’s STEMM expertise to Gareth Davies, Director General of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS)

Tenants from the Science Park were invited to present their businesses and explained how institutions like Exeter Science Park are essential in facilitating business growth and success.

Mr Davies was excited by the growth opportunities and developments presented by the  Science Park’s entrepreneurs  including Mike Badley, founder of Sigma Technical; Jiro Wilson, director of Tor Water; and Alberto Arribas, head of the Informatics Lab at the Met Office.

Responsible for industrial strategy, science research and innovation, small business and entrepreneurs, among a host of other specialisms, Mr Davies visited Exeter Science Park as part of a tour of the region, which also included Exeter Maths School and the Met Office High Performance Supercomputer.

BEIS’s aim is to build an economy that works for everyone, providing places across the UK for businesses to invest, innovate and grow.

Dr Sally Basker, CEO of Exeter Science Park said: "Exeter Science Park works collaboratively with partners, businesses and organisations across the region to facilitate the growth of innovative, fast-growth STEMM businesses.

"BEIS are integral in improving the business landscape across this UK and it is only by working with its experts and leaders that we can continue to expand and improve our offering of support to companies in the South West."

Dr Basker added: "It was a great opportunity to show the progress of the Science Park since it opened in 2015 and we look forward to having a strong working relationship with BEIS as Exeter Science Park continues to grow."
