Global automotive technology firm chooses Exeter Science Park to grow

Global software as a service developer, Eight Technology (with its Dealerweb Showroom and React platforms) is the first company to have signed to move into the ‘grow-on’ buildings at Exeter Science Park to accommodate its expanding team.

Working in, and at, all levels of the automotive industry, Dealerweb works extensively with major motor manufacturers and over 1,500 dealerships internationally in providing innovative enquiry management systems.

The company has recently enjoyed rapid growth and knew Exeter Science Park would be the ideal location for its growing workforce.

Martin Hill, Managing Director of Dealerweb, said: “With our extensive industry experience and the work of our expert software specialists, Dealerweb is fast becoming the favoured supplier of automotive retail sales software solutions both in the UK and increasingly in international markets. As such, our team is expanding and out-growing our current office space in Exeter.

Continued investment into some of the best people in the industry has been one of the keys to our success, and we are excited to offer our current employees the many benefits that the Science Park has to offer. As a specialist technology firm, Exeter Science Park is an ideal location for us to be alongside like-minded, fast-growth companies and within a business community that can help us to grow and thrive.

Dr Sally Basker, CEO of Exeter Science Park said: “Our new grow-on buildings were designed for expanding science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) businesses that are a looking to be part of thriving business community which exploits world-class research, attracts talent, and drives productivity and economic growth.

“Dealerweb brings a wealth of expertise in software development and bespoke technology systems and we are sure that Exeter Science Park is the prime location for the company to enjoy further growth and success.”

Steve Hindley CBE DL, Chair of the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership said: “I’m very pleased to see investor confidence and success for Exeter Science Park, which the LEP has contributed to with Growth Deal and Growing Places funding over a number of phases.

“It’s a real demonstration of how effective partnerships can benefit the Heart of the South West through a wider growth corridor in the Exeter area, which includes the new town at Cranbrook and the other sites in the Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone.

“We wish Dealerweb every success as the first tenants in the new grow-on buildings, and I’m sure they will be joined by many more knowledge-based businesses who are attracted by the facilities at Exeter Science Park.”

Cllr Paul Diviani, Leader of East Devon District Council, said: “I am delighted to hear that another growing, global company is taking space at the Science Park. This is testament to its burgeoning reputation as a fantastic place for technology companies to grow and develop.

“With the Science Park being part of our Enterprise Zone, we hope that many more businesses will be attracted to the site and the advantages that it has to offer.”

Minister for Local Growth, Jake Berry, said: “Thanks to the grass-roots work of the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership and Government’s Growth Deal Funding, Exeter is seeing new businesses moving to the region, spurring growth and creating new jobs.

“It’s great to see Dealerweb moving to the Government-backed ‘grow on’ buildings in the Exeter Science Park as they take their place among a host of thriving companies putting Exeter on the map for science, digital technology, engineering, maths and medicine.”
