Exeter cements position amongst global top in influential global rankings
The University of Exeter has cemented its position as being amongst the top universities worldwide, in a respected global league table (released today).
It is now ranked 126th in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, placing it amongst the very best institutions across the globe.
Exeter is rated in the top 10 universities in the UK, according to the Sunday Times Good University Guide. It not only provides a world-class education, but has the highest overall satisfaction rating among students in the Russell Group, according to the National Student Survey.
Last year, Exeter enjoyed a meteoric rise of 61 places in the THE league table to enter the top 100 for the first time.
Although the latest rankings show a slight fall, they still represent a sustained increase of 140 places over the last nine years, from 266th in 2008.
The University has improved its rating for its “international outlook”, reflecting its truly global perspective. The THE rankings are the latest to highlight Exeter’s burgeoning international reputation. This year Exeter was also positioned 35th in the world, 6th in UK and 8th in Europe in CWTS Leiden Rankings 2016
Professor Sir Steve Smith, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Exeter said: “We were delighted to enter the top 100 universities in the world for the first time last year, experiencing a significant rise of 61 places to achieve 93rd position. With pioneering new initiatives, such as the Living Systems Institute opening in the coming months and a commitment to attracting additional world-class academics to the University, Exeter is well-placed to continue to strengthen its position among the very best universities worldwide.”
“The THE World University Rankings use tough global benchmarks that mean very small margins can equate to some fluctuation in year-on-year positions.
“Although we saw a small drop in the positioning, these new rankings mean Exeter is highliy ranked globally, and continues our overriding upwards trajectory in the influential league tables in recent years.”
