World’s largest behavioural ecology conference comes to Exeter
The University of Exeter will host global research leaders in the field of behavioural ecology through the International Society for Behavioural Ecology (ISBE) conference on July 28 to August 3.
The conference, to be opened by Richard Dawkins, runs every two years, and brings together academics in the fields of animal behaviour, ecology and evolution. It will feature talks by world-renowned scientists and cover the latest advances in research.
Exeter will host the 16th conference on the 30th anniversary of the event. Plenary speakers include: Naomi Pierce; Rosemary Grant; Malte Andersson, Madeleine Beekman, Tim Clutton-Brock, Hopi Hoekstra, Trevor Price. For more information on the speakers and the conference, follow #ISBE_Exeter on Twitter.
Dr Alex Thornton, of the University’s Centre for Ecology and Conservation, is on the organising committee for the event. He said: “This is a prestigious event where the latest research in the field is discussed. At Exeter, we have a strong field of behavioural ecologists. We’re a world-renowned centre of expertise, so it’s fitting that we should host this time around.”
Prof Nina Wedell, ISBE President and researcher at the University of Exeter, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to shine the spotlight on the world-class behavioural ecology research coming out of the University of Exeter. It is the first time in more than 20 years that the ISBE congress is back in the UK, and Exeter is the perfect place to host it, having the largest concentration of behavioural ecologists in Europe and possibly even the world. It is proving to be a very popular destination with the ISBE membership with more than 1,000 participants signed up so far. I’m looking forward to insights into the latest cutting-edge research in the field.”
