Explore the fascinating creatures on Cornwall’s shores with free guided rockpooling session
Families can identify the fascinating creatures found on Cornwall’s shores with the help of a University of Exeter animal ecology expert as part of the Falmouth Spring Festival.
Professor Stuart Bearhop will be hosting a fun afternoon of rockpooling at Gylly Beach on Sunday 2 April between 3 and 5pm. People of all ages are encouraged to come along and discover the amazing creatures found on our local shores.
Professor Bearhop, who is based at the University’s Penryn Campus, main sponsors of the Spring Festival, will help participants explore the community of hardy animals which live in Gylly Beach’s rocky ledges, salt-water pools, boulders and pebbles. He will identify species and show how they have adapted to living in this tidal environment.
Professor Bearhop, said “We are so lucky to have over 400 miles of coastline around Cornwall - a natural playground for fun, exploration and discovery. I do hope people will join us to find out more about the wonderful marine creatures that live here.”
Admission is free but please register your interest with Lou Misselbrook by emailing l.misselbrook@exeter.ac.uk. Please meet outside Gylly Beach Café just before 3pm, wearing appropriate footwear.
