College of Humanities rubber-stamps new agreement with University of British Columbia
The University of Exeter has rubber-stamped a new agreement with the University of British Columbia (UBC).
Exeter’s College of Humanities and UBC’s Okanagan’s Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies entered into a Statement of Cooperation, during a recent symposium, held at both the Streatham Campus in Exeter and the Penryn Campus in Cornwall.
The agreement aims to strengthen the relationship between the universities, and nurture a collaborative approach to education, research and academic exchanges.
The agreement was formalised by Professor Bryce Traister (Dean of Faculty, FCCS at UBC), Professor Andrew Thorpe (Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean for the College of Humanities) and Jacqui Marshall (Exeter’s Director of People Services and Global Partnerships).
Professor Jo Gill, the Associate Dean (International and Development) for Exeter’s College of Humanities said: The College of Humanities at Exeter is renowned for its international and interdisciplinary approach to research and teaching and thrives on collaborative, innovative, and rigorous scholarship beyond conventional subject boundaries.
“In this respect we have found an ideal partner in the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies at the University of British Columbia, and we look forward to working together in the future.”
The symposium, held from May 9-11, had a central theme of ‘Culture, Creativity and Well-being’, and featured researchers from UBC, Exeter, Simon Fraser University, Grenoble and the University of Northern British Columbia.
Professor Gill added: “This symposium has provided a wonderful opportunity for scholars from Exeter, British Columbia and elsewhere to come together and share their work-in-progress on this important theme.
