Thank you to University students
Thank you to University students
For new and returning students we know that this year so far has been a very different experience than you were expecting.
Many of the usual activities of previous freshers didn’t happen, and we know a lot was asked of you in returning to University, or leaving home for the first time.
We wanted to personally thank you for playing your part and sticking to the public health guidance, which has helped your local community and fellow students to stay safe and contributed to keeping our COVID-19 case numbers low here in Cornwall. We have thankfully not had the large outbreak of cases which other universities have experienced, and this is no doubt due to decisions you have made whilst a student in Cornwall.
Of course, we hope to remain in COVID Tier 1 when you return in January, and you’ll be a key part in helping us keep those numbers low when you return. Your University will tell you the plans for your return to help make it as safe as possible.
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas seeing friends and family and look forward to welcoming you back early next year.
Rachel Wigglesworth, Director of Public Health for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and Councillor Sally Hawken, portfolio holder for Children, Wellbeing and Public Health.
